Heretic’s studio lies either in an old brick or piano factory, no-one is able to say for certain. But that was in the 'olden' times when everything was in black and white. Now we're in full colour and Heretic Print Studio have taken full advantage of this fact, as Hermit Editions found out when we took a wander over to witness the birth of their latest screen print.
In production that day was part two of 'Hallucinations of a Dying Mind'. In this series we see Heretic return to the idea of a constructed alternate world, as they explored previously in their Mutinopia series.
Instead of looking to outward possibilities the print allows us to peer down into a universe internalized though the eyes of an anonymous individual. An introspective outpouring solidifies in ink, a mind letting go at the point of its death.
Made in collaboration with long time Heretic stalwart Thee Marquis of Nowhere, this series brings the written narrative directly to the surface of the print giving them the feel of giant pages torn from a childhood book.
You can find Part one of this series “Denizens Of Field & Forest” at Hermit Editions. Keep checking back for more news of some exciting forthcoming projects with Heretic.
